Empty Canisters – These are used as a casing for the crystals (or Activated Carbon Granules). In many situations when the crystals are placed directly into the Filter housings there is insufficient contact with the incoming water and the crystals. The empty canister has its inlet at the bottom and outlet at the top, therefore water will pass through with sufficient contact with the crystals. The empty canister is then placed into the filter housing.
